Benjamin Franklin

       Benjamin Franklin was one of the most influential people in America. He was a writer, a philosopher, a scholar, a scientist, an inventor and most importantly a diplomat and a polititian. He was one of the founding fathers of America. As he was asked, he helped draft the Decleration of Independence as well as The USA's Constitution.      He was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston. Benjamin was the 15th child of a candlemaker - Josiah Franklin. He learned to read at a very young age and ended his studies at the age of 10. He then became a full-time worker at his father's candle shop. In 1740s he expanded his studies in science and proceeded to invent many things, e.g. Franklin's Stove or an armonica.     Asked by his fellow politicians he helped establish and draft the Decleration of Independence and later on the Constitution. James Madison

    James Madison was one of the most important people of America. He is "the father of America's Constitution" and the author of  "The Bill of Rights" - one of the Constitution Amendments that guarantees civil rights and liberties to individuals like freedom of speech).     James Madison was born in 1751 in Belle Grove, Virginia. He, with the help from Thomas Jefferson, wrote the US Constitution - that's how his nickname was created. He served as the fourth president (1809-1817) and during his presidency he signed the decleration of war against Great Britain, starting the  War of 1812.     He retired in 1817 to his Virginia Plantation, Montpelier, where he spent supervising his large plantation holdings and slaves. He died on June 28, 1836 due to heart and liver complications.
