Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was one of the most influential people in America. He was the first secretary of US treasury. He built the financial foundation of the new and independent country and started the America's National Bank.
Hamilton was born on the Caribbean island of Nevis between 1755 and 1557 (his birth year is not confirmed). His childhood was very rough. His dad left and his mother died from severe illness. He managed to fend for himself and survive on his own. He got hired as a clerk in a trade company.
He became popular after he wrote and published a letter about a hurricane that striked his home island. Locals helped raise money to send him to New York. He arrived in America in 1772.
By writing many more letters and pamphlets he captured more attention and managed to interest Washington, who later on hired him as his staff. He married Eliza Schuyler in 1780 - they had eight children (One of them, more specifically Philip Hamilton, died in a duel with John Eacker trying to defend his father's honour).
Hamilton had many controversies, one of them was a sex scandal that he later on wrote a text about called "The Reynold's Pamphlet".
He died a day after a duel with his political enemy Aaron Burr in 1804 - he got shot between his ribs.

  1. Looks like a lot of drama, compared to some other American founding fathers.
