Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King is one of the greatest people of America. He fought for freedom of African-American people. He made a great impact on equality between races and became the youngest person in the world to obtain the Noble Peace Prize.
Martin Luther King was born on January 15, 1929 to a religious family. In 1953 he became a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. As a strong defender of rights of his race he became a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and in 1955 started a nonviolent demonstration for equality of his race. His first achievement for his race, was getting equal rights to ride buses as whites.
At the age of thirty-five he received the Noble Peace Prize and during his speach he announced that all the prize money will be donated to push forward the black people equality movement.
On April 4, 1968, while standing on his hotel's balcony, he was assassinated.

  1. When you say he fought for "equal rights to ride buses as whites" it sounds like black people can dress up as? / paint their faces? / pretend to be? white people. They won't travel as whites, they will be treated as whites - not the same thing.
