14.02.2021 - Tanks on streets of Myanmar city prompt US embassy warning
The last few weeks were a hard time for the Myanmarese. Cities were swarmed by people protesting against the military coup, tanks showed up in Yangon, and shots were fired under a power plant in Kachin.
Yangon's American embassy warns citizens of the probability of high military engagement in the capital. There are speculations that the internet will be shut off in the country in the next 12 hours and telecommunication will be interrupted at night.
Interruption of the internet would mean that the protesters will be deprived of one of their best defenses and will make it harder to get help from other countries.
More than 384 detained and several people were injured by the coup. The police used water cannons and rubber guns against the protesters.
