 In China, there has been a sharp decrease in birth rate. The amount of children born per 1000 people currently holds at around 11. It has dropped significantly comparing to the 1950 statistics - 46 children per 1000 people.  It seems as their propaganda for one-child families is showing spectacular effects. I think that the significant decrease in China is great. By reducing the amount of children born to a single mother they will be able to decrease the amount of poverty and benefit the country's economy. On Wednesday NASA will attempt to alter the orbit of an asteroid flying near Earth's atmosphere by deliberately crashing a spacecraft into it. It's going to be the first time in history that we try to alter a flight path of an object in space. NASA's aim is to test our defence mechanisms in case of a future hazard for humanity.  I think what NASA is trying to accomplish is both good and bad. Considering how many resources it takes to create a spacecraft i don't think that dumping it into the space is the greatest idea. Add to it the current space traffic problems - debris flying all around Earth. Though I do think it's for the best. If NASA manages to alter the orbit of the asteroid we will better understand the probability of saving humanity from such events. During the last week I stayed home due to an ilness. I didn't have much to do apart from looking at my phone and wasting my time in bed. I couldn't even go outside for 5 minutes without losing my breath after walking around my block of flats. It made me realise how empty life can get without any social activities and interactions. Sure, playing games with people online may be one thing but it's not the same comparing to what I'm used to. I am not an extrovert and a not an extremely social person but the lack of contact with people during the last seven days almost made me go insane.
